The Rotary Foundation is organized as a public charity operated exclusively for charitable purposes and governed by a Board of Trustees. The operations of Rotary International, a member organization, are overseen by its Board of Directors. The headquarters of Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation are in Evanston, Illinois, USA.

The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. The Rotary Foundation helps fund Rotary’s humanitarian activities, from local service projects to global initiatives.

Each member in the Rotary Club of Point West - Sacramento is encouraged to make an annual contribution to The Rotary Foundation.  Most members make a annual contribution of $100 but it is up to the individual to donate what works for them. The member can also choose the area where he or she wishes the donation - the Annual Fund, Polio Plus or the Endowment Fund. Many contributors select the Annual Fund if they have no specific area of interest. Others request their donation be made to the Polio Plus program which focuses on eradicating polio in the world.
